Introducing Bright Spots, a newsletter that shines light on positive trends in global sustainability you may have missed and discusses how each of us can accelerate these trends.
We are at an inflection point. One option is to accept the doom and gloom climate narrative and resign ourselves to a bleak future.
I believe that there is an alternative option: that if we work together and leverage our collective genius, we can create a more sustainable future.
Seeing Bright Spots….
In some articles, I’ll highlight the regulations and scientific discoveries, start-ups and corporate actions, technologies and arts that bring me hope.
I’ll cut through the jargon that intimidates and prevents people from taking action. The truth is that sustainability is simple: we all want to contribute to a more equitable future with fewer impacts on the environment. While we all vary on the details, on the broad outlines, most people are aligned.
Becoming a Bright Spot…
To become a bright spot, we need to go beyond identifying positive trends to understanding how we can contribute to them in our personal and professional lives.
For the personal, I’ll go deep on how personal choices and consumption patterns can influence macro-trends. For professional life, I’ll lean on the work of experts like Adam Grant, Daniel Pink, and Herminia Ibarra. In all of this, my goal is to provide additional context and guidance so that you can make decisions that align with your values and areas of genius.
Part of this is about discovering what I can do best to become a bright spot, so I will push myself – and this newsletter – outside my comfort zone. For while I know some things that I do well, I’m still not sure what I do best – where I find joy – where I experience flow – and how I can best contribute to the future I want.
Please sign up if this resonates with you. Thanks for reading, and please let me know if there are any topics, trends, people, and stories you’d like me to focus on.
See the bright spots, be a bright spot.
